Notice of Intent - Form

This may occur before the candidate files their nomination papers. The information required under the notice of intent provisions is published.

After submitting Notice of Intent or completed Nomination prescribed forms; Start of campaign period. Potential candidates may start notifying the municipality of their intention to be nominated.

Persons who notify may start incurring campaign expenses & accepting contributions.

- Form 4: Nomination paper and candidate acceptance.
- Form 5: Candidate financial information.
- Form 26: Campaign disclosure statement and financial statement (if applicable).
- Form 16: Statement of Scrutineer or Official Agent (if applicable).
- Candidate has specified the office being sought (COUNCILLOR).
- Candidate signature provided.
- Minimum elector signatures provided (s. 27(1)(b) and 28(4)(b) LAEA). (Must be Wembley Resident and Canadian Citizen).
 - Candidate acceptance statement sworn or affirmed (s. 27(1)(c) and 28(4)(c) LAEA).

All prescribed forms must be completed and submitted by the Nomination Day.

 

“Signature of Returning Officer or Commissioner for Oaths” space provided on Form 4 if the document has not been commissioned already (Returning Officers are authorized to administer oaths for election purposes)

Must provide Photo ID.

No Criminal Record.(s. 27(1)(e) and 28(4)(c.1) LAEA).

Nomination period closes at 12 noon.
 Last day to submit Candidate Forms.

Candidates may withdraw their nomination in writing, in person, until 12 p.m.

If, 24 hours after the close of nominations, the number of nominations = number of offices, Returning Officer declares persons elected.

If election required, Returning Officer to forward a signed statement showing the name of each nominated candidate to the relevant Deputy Minister.

By-Election Date is set on November 16th, 2026.

31(1)

"If the number of persons nominated for any office is less than the number required to be elected, the time for receipt of nominations:

(a) shall stand adjourned to the next day at the same place at the hour of 10 a.m. and shall remain open until 12 noon for the purpose of receiving further nominations for the office, and

(b) shall continue to remain open and be adjourned in the same manner from day to day until a period of 6 days, including nomination day but not including Saturday, Sunday and holidays, as defined in the Interpretation Act, has elapsed."
