UPDATE: April 10, 2025

Public Works has arranged for Compost Bin for Grass and Branches.

This bin is strictly for grass and branches. Monitored area. NO HOUSEHOLD GARBAGE ALLOWED.

September 30th, 2024 - Compost area for Grass and Branch is closed.

No access until further notice.

West Grande Prairie Regional Transfer Station to be used for excess garbage. Located From Hwy 672 Emerson Trail head North on Range Road 93.

Bin Available - April 16, 2025

Please do not misuse the bins.

  • Cameras have been installed.
  • The grass & small branch compost bin will be accessible 24 hours / 7days a week.

WHAT GOES IN THE COMPOST BIN?

ACCEPTED


 GRASS

  • Grass Clippings
  • Leaves, Dead Garden or Flower Plants, Pine Needles





BRANCHES

  • Shrubs, Brush, and Shrubbery
  • Tree Pruning Waste, Twigs, Small branches and Small Trees < 6” Diameter < 5’ long
  • Anything Tree Bark

 

NOT ACCEPTED

  • No Food/Pet Waste
  • Noxious Weeds
  • No Dirt or Rocks
  • No Plastic Bags, Plastic Plant Pots, or Paper
  • No Household Garbage, Recyclables
  • No Land Clearing Debris (soil, lawn fabric, straw bails, treated mulch, rocks, metals, and trees or tree stumps) 
  • No Lumber of any kind (fencing, wood pallets, plywood, pressboard, treated wood or ashes)
  • No Fertilizer Bags 
  • No oils of any kind
