Town Clean Up Information


TOWN CLEAN UP      

When: May 29 & 30, 2026

FOR TOWN OF WEMBLEY RESIDENTS ONLY 

Please read the information below regarding the town clean up. For more information, call the Town Office: 780-766-2269.

On SATURDAY ONLY, MAY 30, 2026

PRAIRIE DISPOSAL will do a curbside pick-up starting at 8:00am. 

Note: Items should only be placed at the curbside boulevard area at a maximum of seven (7) days in advance. The property owner must clean up any items left behind by Tuesday, June 2nd, or face fines for violations of the Unsightly Premises Bylaw 695. Property Owners must keep their disposed items on the boulevard* and off the street or public sidewalks during the Town Clean Up event. *Boulevard area is the front yard approximately ten (10) feet or less (area) from curb.

Multiple assigned PRAIRIE DISPOSAL trucks will pick up the following accepted items:

 ITEMS ACCEPTED FOR CURBSIDE PICK‑UP

  • Small furniture (chairs, love seats), under five (5) feet long and under 70 lbs.
  • Bagged or boxed household garbage (each item under 23 kg /under 50 lbs.)
  • Natural wood products: Less than 5 feet long, under 70 lbs., unpainted, unstained, untreated wood must be bundled separately.

 ITEMS NOT ACCEPTED FOR CURBSIDE

  • Items that pose safety risks (e.g., wood with excessive nails, hazardous materials) will not be collected. 
  • LISTED BELOW BIN 1 to 5
  • No Toxic Chemicals or Hazardous Waste; for example: batteries, paint, propane bottles, motor oil, or fuel products.
  • No Construction or Demolition Materials; to be disposed of at the landfill.

Any items left on the boulevard that were not collected are the responsibility of the property owner to clean up. 

*Seniors may arrange curbside pickup for large items if they are unable to access the refuse bins. Must register by May 26; items must be at the curb Friday morning. Phone 780-766-2269 or email info@wembley.ca 

LARGE REFUSE BIN available May 29 & 30, 2026 located at the Public Works Shop Yard

Bin Location: 10207 – 97 Street (55°09'33.3"N 119°08'18.5"W)

Gate Open: Friday 8:30am to 7pm / Saturday 9am to 4pm

LISTED BELOW IS WHAT MUST BE BROUGHT TO THE REFUSE BINS.

🚩 WHAT GOES IN EACH BIN:

Bin 1 – Large Household Appliances – e.g., Washers, dryers, dishwashers, stoves, air conditioners, fridges, deep freezers. 

(must be cleared of food product)

Bin 2 – Off Rim Tires 

Bin 3 – All Metal – e.g., Small appliances, microwaves, barbeques (NO tanks), metal parts/scrap, vehicle parts: Non-hazardous. 

Bin 4 – Consumer Electronics) – e.g., TVs, computers, monitors, DVD players, radios.

Bin 5 – Oversized or Overweight Household Items – e.g., Large furniture, couches, mattresses.

No Construction or Demolition Materials; to be disposed of at the Clairmont landfill.

🚫 ABSOLUTELY NO TOXIC CHEMICALS, HARZARDOUS WASTE, for example: batteries, paint, propane bottles, motor oil, or fuel products. 

NOTE: 

  • The Large Item Refuse Bins will be monitored. Any unacceptable items will be turned away. 
  • Do not drop off items near the bins when they are closed. 
  • Do not contaminate the Large Item Refuse Bins with toxic waste. 

The outcome or success of the Large Refuse Bins will determine if this is a service the Town is able to offer to residents in future years.

GRASS AND BRANCH – BIN – ACCESS To Be Determined (In the meantime please dispose of grass & branches at the Landfill).  Information to be updated on the Town website department tab > public works > compost area grass and branch.

ATTENTION Town Residents – SURVEY

Please take the survey if you would prefer residential curbside garden mulch pickup. Survey activated April 2, and ending May 7.  (Shared info on Website: wembley.ca and Facebook: @TownofWembleyTownOffice) Click here for the survey.

STILL HAVE A LOAD OF GARBAGE TO DISPOSE OF:

  • Garbage tags are available for purchase at the Wembley Town Office $2/bag tag* (Rate schedule: Garbage & Recycling Bylaw 740*).
  • You may bring your extra garbage to the West Grande Prairie County Regional Transfer Station (WGPCRTS) or to the Clairmont Landfill.

Note: At the transfer station all loads must be unloaded by hand into bins. Large loads may not be accepted at the transfer station and may be redirected to Clairmont Landfill. Before heading to WGPCR transfer station with a large load phone: 780-356-0007.

Clairmont Centre for Recycling and Waste Management landfill is Located: 724065 RGE RD 63 County of Grande Prairie, AB. Hours of operation: Mon-Sat 8am to 6pm, closed on stat days.  Please call 780-567-4194 for any questions. You may apply for an access card for the Clairmont location through the county of Grande Prairie No1 website: countygp.ab.ca Note: While there is no limit to the overall amount of waste that a household can still dispose of each year at the Clairmont Centre, only the first 1,000 kg will be free of charge. Any waste above the 1,000 kg limit will be subject to standard tipping fees.
