TOWN CLEAN UP

      

Town of Wembley Residents ONLY!!!

On SATURDAY ONLY, September 14th*, 2024

PRAIRIE DISPOSAL will do a curbside pick-up starting at 8:00am.

(Items should only be placed at the curbside at a maximum of *seven (7) days in advance. 

The property owner must clean up any items left behind by Tuesday, September 17th, or face fines for violations of the Unsightly Premises Bylaw 695.  Property Owners must keep their disposed items on the boulevard and off the street during the Town Cleanup event.)

 Multiple PRAIRIE DISPOSAL trucks will pick up the following items:

  • Small furniture & loveseats/chairs (under five feet long)
  • Normal household garbage MUST be contained in bags, or boxes.
  • Fencing/wood products bundled into 5 feet lengths or under. (Unpainted/Unstained/Untreated wood to be bundled separately)
  • Items under 70 lbs. in weight, items under 5 feet
  • NO TOXIC Chemicals, No Paint, No Batteries, No Propane Bottles

BINS available September 13th & 14th, 2024

REFUSE BINS are located at the 

Town’s Public Works Shop Yard 10207 97 Street. 

Yard Gate Open: Friday 8am to 7:30pm / Saturday 9am to 4:30pm

YOU MUST TAKE THE FOLLOWING ITEMS to the LARGE BROWN 

 

Bin 1 – LARGE APPLIANCES: such as washers, dryers, dishwashers, stoves, fridges & deep freezes (cleared of food items)  

Bin 2 – TIRES

Bin 3 – ALL METAL: small appliances, microwaves, vehicle parts, barbecue, etc.…

Bin 4 – ELECTRONICST.V.’s, computers, monitors, DVD players

Bin 5 – OVERSIZED OR OVERWEIGHT: miscellaneous garbage, large furniture, exercise equipment, couches, mattresses & wood bundles over five (5) feet. 

ABSOLUTELY NO TOXIC CHEMICALS, PAINT, BATTERIES OR PROPANE BOTTLES

(Toxic items will NOT be picked up and are NOT to be disposed of in the BINS)

 

*Seniors who cannot bring their large item to the bin can arrange for CURBSIDE.

The West Grande Prairie Regional Landfill is free for Wembley Residents.

The Landfill is currently operating as a Transfer Station until further notice. 

All loads must be unloaded by hand into bins. Large loads may not be accepted.

Note: 

The Town has a Grass and Branch Compost Pile Area. 

In this area there is a pile to dispose of grass clippings and another for branches. 

Road access located before the Town’s Public Works Yard gate.

UPDATE: September 21st the compost pile will be open NOTE: Should the abuse continue, the compost pile may be shut down permanently.


UPDATE September 4th, 2024: Compost pile areas are now closed due to household garbage being dumped*.

*Town’s Grass & Branch Pile Area is not a dump for household garbage.

If caught disposing other, then non-noxious weed - grass or branches you may be subject to fines. 

(NO NOXIOUS Weeds Allowed)

Open when road is accessible (Weather pending - approx... May to End September)

NOTE:

  • The Large Item Refuse Bins will be monitored. Any unacceptable items will be turned away. 
  • Do not drop off items near the bins when they are closed. 
  • Do not contaminate the Large Item Refuse Bins with toxic waste. 

The outcome or success of the Large Refuse Bins will determine if this is a service the Town is able to offer to residents in future years.

Update Monday, September 16th, 2024 

NOTICE: To the residents with items on their boulevard. 

Items you left behind on boulevard didn’t qualify for Saturday’s curbside pickup. In the future, please refer to the information provided on the Town's website and Aquatera inserts as to what is permitted at the curb and what must be brought to the refuse bins. Today, September 16th, Public Works has collected the large appliance(s) only and the rest of the items are your responsibility.
