TOWN CLEAN UP
Town of Wembley Residents ONLY!!!
On SATURDAY only, MAY 10, 2025
PRAIRIE DISPOSAL will do a curbside pick-up starting at 8:00am.
(Items should only be placed at the curbside at a maximum of *seven (7) days in advance. The property owner must clean up any items left behind by
Tuesday, May 13th, or face fines for violations of the Unsightly Premises Bylaw 695. Property Owners must keep their disposed items on the boulevard* and off the street
or public sidewalks during the Town Clean Up event. *Boulevard area is the front yard approximately 10feet area from "curb".)
Multiple assigned PRAIRIE DISPOSAL trucks will pick up the following items:
- Small furniture & loveseats/chairs (Must be under five feet long & under 70lbs)
- Normal household garbage contained in bags, or boxes.
- Fencing/wood products bundled into 5 feet lengths or less. (Unpainted/Unstained/Untreated wood to be bundled separately)
- Items under 70 lbs. in weight, items under 5 feet
- NO TOXIC Chemicals, No Paint, No Batteries No Propane Bottles

Listed below is what must be brought to the refuse bins.
BINS available May 9 & 10, 2025
REFUSE BINS are located at the Town’s Public Works Shop Yard 10207 97 Street.
Yard Gate Open: Friday 8am to 7:30pm / Saturday 9am to 4:30pm
YOU MUST TAKE THE FOLLOWING ITEMS to the LARGE BROWN:
Bin 1 – LARGE APPLIANCES: such as washers, dryers, dishwashers, stoves, fridges & deep freezes (cleared of food items)
Bin 2 – TIRES
Bin 3 – ALL METAL: small appliances, microwaves, vehicle parts, barbecue, etc.…
Bin 4 – ELECTRONICS: T.V.’s, computers, monitors, DVD players
Bin 5 – OVERSIZED OR OVERWEIGHT: miscellaneous garbage, large furniture, couches, mattresses & wood bundles over 5 feet.
ABSOLUTELY NO TOXIC CHEMICALS, PAINT, BATTERIES OR PROPANE BOTTLES
(Toxic items will NOT be picked up and are NOT to be disposed of in the BINS)
*Seniors who cannot bring their large item to the bin can make arrangements for CURBSIDE.

The West Grande Prairie Regional Landfill is free for Town of Wembley Residents.
The Landfill is currently operating as a Transfer Station until further notice. All loads must be unloaded by hand into bins.
Large loads may not be accepted and/or redirected to Clairmont Landfill.

For large loads redirected to Clairmont Landfill. Fees may apply at the Clairmont Landfill (Clairmont Centre for Recycling and Waste Management). Please call 780-567-4194 for any questions.

The Town has a Grass and Branch Compost Pile Area.
In this area there is a pile to dispose of grass clippings and another for branches.
Road access located before the Town’s Public Works Yard gate.

Garbage and Recycling Bylaw 740 on the Town Website
UPDATE: The compost pile will be open during the Town Clean Up.
In September 2024: Compost pile areas was closed due to household garbage being dumped*.
*Town’s Grass & Branch Pile Area is not a dump for household garbage.
If caught disposing other, then non-noxious weed - grass or only branches you may be subject to fines.
Branches or small trees (size “if you’re able to lift the small tree with one hand”)

After Town Clean Up - By appointment only (call 780-518-0856). Open when road is accessible (Weather pending - approx... May to End September).

NOTE:
- The Large Item Refuse Bins will be monitored. Any unacceptable items will be turned away.
- Do not drop off items near the bins when they are closed.
- Do not contaminate the Large Item Refuse Bins with toxic waste.
The outcome or success of the Large Refuse Bins will determine if this is a service the Town is able to offer to residents in future years.
NOTICE: To the residents with items on their boulevard. Items remaining on boulevard after town clean up didn’t qualify for Saturday’s curbside pickup. In the future, please refer to the information provided on the Town's website and Aquatera inserts as to what is permitted at the curb and what must be brought to the refuse bins. The remaining items are your responsibility to clean-up. |
