Temporary Summer Firefighter Position

 

 

The Wembley Fire Department is currently inviting applications for the Temporary Summer Firefighter Position, which spans eight 35-hour work weeks, with the potential for extension to twelve weeks.


 

 

Qualifications:

 

  • Candidates must be between 15 and 30 years of age, inclusive, at the commencement of employment, adhering to CSJ Program Guidelines.
  • Applicants must be Canadian Citizens, permanent residents, or individuals who have been conferred refugee protection under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act. Additionally, they must possess legal entitlement to work as per relevant provincial/territorial legislation and regulations.
  • Minimum training of Fire Fighter 101 is required, with preference given to those holding Fire Fighter NFPA 1001 Level 1 or 2.
  • Possession of Standard First Aid with Basic Life Support (BLS) or higher is mandatory.
  • Possession of a Class 3 license and Airbrakes is considered an asset.
  • Pump driver/operator training is also advantageous.

     In collaboration with Employment and Social Development Canada's Canada Summer Jobs Program, the Wembley Fire Department is offering this opportunity for the 2025 summer work term. 

 

     This position entails 280 hours prior to a potential 140-hour extension. The hourly rate pay rate is $25.00, exclusive of sick or vacation leave. Please note that this temporary position does not qualify for benefits or pension plan membership through the Town of Wembley. 

 

     Start date is negotiable and can fall between June 1st and July 1st, 2025. And hours of work are flexible between 8am-7pm
